TRIQS City Spotlight: Belfast

The team at TRIQS have a keen interest when it comes to leading development projects in construction, so our new series will explore the top building and QS projects taking place across the UK.

For our first City Spotlight, we will be talking about Belfast, following the news of funding being secured for the £115m Belfast BTR scheme.

This will mean the construction of a new residential-led development will be underway before the end of the year in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, enhancing the regeneration of the docks even further!

This will be funded by Legal & General and Clanmill Housing Association, and has been described by the former as the “largest ever private sector investment into housing in Northern Ireland.”

As well as this scheme, here are more of the best current construction projects in Belfast:

Belfast Grand Central Station

Set for completion in 2024, The Grand Central Station is a multi-million investment to create “the main transport gateway to Belfast, creating a sense of arrival in a modern, progressive city, with rail, bus and coach connections to all parts of Northern Ireland and beyond.”

One Grosvenor Gate

This is a new 14-storey office building development at the Westlink and Grosvenor Road Junction, which will provide “grade A” office space for up to 2,500 workers! Completion is expected in 2025.

Belfast Gasworks Development

Plans have been approved for new social housing, and office and community space to be built on the former Belfast Gasworks site.

Giant’s Park

Once hailed as the largest development site in Belfast, Giant’s Park is now home to the Belfast Harbour Studios complex, and plans are being made to utilise the remaining space for a commercial led, mixed use site for predominantly leisure, adventure and sport.

We can expect many more exciting projects to come to Belfast in the coming years, as part of Belfast City Council’s Agenda for a new vision by 2035, which will bring about 50,000 new jobs and £1bn investment in the city’s regeneration projects.
